What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday No. 151
Well... I'm waiting for inspiration to strike... hence there's lots of space... :o)
I'm taking part in Inspiration Avenue's Postcard Swap - there's a button on my right side bar to read all about it...
We're to make five postcards this week *gulp* and next week we'll get the recipients' mailing details...
This is my first swap post-stroke, and I admit I'm rather apprehensive...
I used to be an avid ATC maker and swapper, but i simply can't work that small any more - my left hand is simply not that dexterous!
The dimensions of a postcard - 4"x6" - are quite a challenge, but my daughter has kindly gessoed 5 cards to get me going... i'm thinking I may just tape them to my messy mat to keep them secure while I work...
I'm hoping to do a different medium for each - painting, stamping, sketching, collage...
Anyway, I have done one already...
I cheated rather - I did a sketch of the young Virginia Woolf in my sketchbook, then tore out the page, cut it to size and stuck it on...
She's one of my all-time favourite authors, and I just love this photo of her, which was on a bookmark :)
So one down, four to go...
And I can't wait to see what you wonderfully creative bods have going on...
and thank you so much for all the lovely comments from last week!!
PS
For those who wanted to see the finished piece from last week, you can see it's creation here :)

I love how you used something already in your sketchbook for the card! You can do it and I hope you enjoy the process! It's always inspiring to see a watercolor palette at the ready on a desk. I love the painting of the lady in the upper right of your desk.
Have a wonderful WOYWW!
Thanks for visiting my desk!

Love your sketch and if you want to tape the cards to your desk use a low tack masking tape that way you can remove it without and problems of damage and if your daughter does it good enough you can create a border with the tape, I use that technique often on some of my painted surfaces and it always looks great.
Happy crafting

Late this week! #102
I don't think your first postcard is a cheat at all. You've made it, after all. Sure you didn't make it with this swap in mind but that is okay. I finally learned that myself. I'm sure inspiration will come once you start dabbling with the other postcards.
You are so neat. You put my desk to shame! Artie #143
I think deadlines do put fear into us, but we always manage don't we! Hope your swaps go well. Take care, enjoy this WOYWW, am working my way through the list in shifts! Zo xx 77
Go for it Claire. Dont spend time on doubt when you can be gluing, drawing, painting, thinking, watching... LOve the blog.

I think this sketch is lovely - full of sensitivity and character! I really like the pool of soft blue too, it suits the pencil.
I would have loved to have done the postcard swap too, but I have too many other commitments for the next few weeks :(
Next time though!
I love what you have created! Go with your intuition and see what comes! Your sketch is wonderful, the blue compliments the mood and the sketch! I always get excited, then panic sets in. It is part of the process. Keep at it you will get there!
Sometimes a deadline pushes us to do our best, and you have already done an outstanding job! Your sketch is beautiful, and not cheating at all..it is yours! Lovely and amazing!
That postcard is beautiful. I wish I could draw like that.
Happy belated WOYWW
