Focus on Life - Week 5

Here we are at Week 5 already AND it's February!!
Hooray! We've made it through the l-o-n-g-e-s-t month of the year (I always suffer with January blues...)

Sally Russick's prompt this week was 'Capture Our Hearts' - appropriate for Valentine's Day, I guess, but I'm sorry, I'm not a love-heart person...

I understand that when Milton Glaser created this

it was new, and quickly became iconic, but that was back in the 70s, and when you see it just everywhere... well, it loses its impact...

I had hoped to get outside and seek out natural 'hearts' - leaves, pebbles, even a shadow - but sadly the weather's been terrible here, and I simply couldn't :(
The sun did shine on Thursday, but the wind was gale-force, and even Molly-cat didn't fancy going out in it!

(I guess she's communing with the lil cat statue on the desk...)

So, what was I to photograph??

And then it came to me...

I wear a heart-shape around my neck 24/7!!
It's been there since I bought it for myself when I turned 40 (a few years ago now, I know!) The only time it's been taken off was in hospital back on 2007...

It's almost impossible to get a good photo, so here it is from the Wright and Teague lookbook

The Latin inscription means 'go in peace', which I do try to do... and the twig cross and the star heart are classic W&T charms...

So, there's my heart shape... worn daily, and although I often remember the inscription (I tend to fiddle with the necklace when I'm anxious or stressed breathing the words 'vade in pace'), I had totally forgotten the shape... so thanks for the reminder, Sally :)

What a lovely necklace and the saying is wonderful. Most definitely words to love by.
Aren't you glad that the days are longer now. Yesterday it was still light in Glasgow. Today we have sunshine. Woo hoo!!!
For your January blues- 15 mins outside regardless of the weather. It raises your seratonin levels or something.

Oooh, I love the saying on your necklace! I bet it generates lots of "what does your necklace say" comments! Moll-cat is adorable-what a shiny coat! I am a lover of winter and have noticed the days getting longer, which I actually dread!

You must live near me. We had terrible winds and weather this week too. Love you heart charm and its inscription. Funny how the hearts are all around us and yet not that easy to find.

Your cat is adorable sitting there on your table. Love your necklace too, wonderful words and sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by my blog...the stone is a dendritic agate.

Love your necklace and it's significance. I wanted to get out and find a heart in nature this week too, but was deterred not only by the weather. My physical limitations from the arthritis hamper me from doing a lot of the things I want to do these days.

And you say you are not a heart person. :). I love your necklace. The saying is wonderful and a great daily reminder.

Love the picture of your cat. I also have a black cat with yellow eyes. Plus really like the saying on your necklace.

Isn't that the way it is! That something is staring us in the face and we forget to notice. You're right that we did have a similar experience this week. I've had that iron scrollwork piece for years! Great sentiment on your heart. And what a perfect picture of Molly.

Absolutely beautiful picture of your cat...and did you notice her face is heart-shaped? She looks so much like my Hershey cat I lost 6 yrs ago. Love your heart necklace!

What a great reminder to have around your neck 24/7. I didn't realize how many hearts were in my house until this week!

What a nice necklace! In our very fast paced world, we need to be reminded of that once in awhile.

It is really amazing how this challenge has made us really look or has made us remember all of these precious things to us!

Molly is truly adorable!

It is a beautiful pendant, I love that the inscription is in Latin. A beautiful reminder, indeed: thank you for sharing!

It's funny, but I just about forgot about the earrings that I wear almost daily that are heart shaped, too - funny how we know they're there, but forget them at the same time! I love your heart necklace and the pic of your kitty is just too cute - makes me want to just pick her up and hug her!!

I wear a gold and opal beach flip flop 24/7 guess the beach is where I really want to be! Emm my large grey cat used to have a red heart on his collar until he lost it... The two little black cats on my collage are actually two pictures of the same cat... Ellie-Mae... She sleeps on my chest with her paws on my neck ... to keep me from moving.. She weighed about 3 pounds when we got her as an 16 month old, now shes about 30 months and is a prky 12 pounds... it's getting hard t0 breath!

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who suffers from 'January blues'. Things always seem to get better by the time February rolls around. :)

Love you post; isn't it funny how we forget certain aspects of the things which are nearest and dearest to us? Your charm is lovely.
