Focus on Life - Week 17

This week's prompt was Color/Colour - I'm so glad Sally made we, non-Americans, feel included :)

And again, I decided to take the prompt literally, especially Sally's opening remark,

Did you ever notice the way color can effect our mood
and perception of the environment around us?

and brought out my watercolours to paint whatever, and wherever, my mood took me...

This is the result - totally non-edited and non-tweaked - our camera really isn't the best!

No idea where my mood was - Mars??

And here's the image cropped and colour-boosted in Picasa...

... definitely Mars :)

Looking forward to seeing all your colourful responses over at The Studio Sublime, and can I remind you there's still time to enter my Birthday Giveaway - either follow this link or click the button in the right sidebar.

Have a bright and colour-filled week!!

Whoa - that's way cool!! I like the first one best,..it's the muted, color thing you mentioned on my post, but it really does look beautiful. So you were thinking about Mars, eh? I see an Eye - a beatiful, colorful, artistic eye!! And Mars,.... ;-)

Lovely colours! I don't see mars much too yellow for my vision of Mars.. but definitly bright and cheerful... Yellow is such a cheerful colour... it reminds me of the sun which we see so rarely here!

Beautiful, I actually like the muted first photo!

Mars art, love it! I keep hearing about Mars this week in random ways. Something on the radio was telling me about how Blur wrote a song to be the first played on Mars to anounce the thing had landed safely. It didn't though so the song was never played (on Mars at least). The universe seems to be telling me to pay attention lol. Looks like you had a fun exploration of your own

gorgeous effects with that color! I love the blending from one to another

I like them both. The first one is more relaxed since it is not as intense as the second one. I see an eye and I suppose Mars has an "eye" too :)

Sounds fun and relaxing to get out the water colors and see where your mood takes you.

I love that you kinda went with the flow to create this colorful work of art. Sometimes you just gotta let the color do the talking. Nicely done :)

Interesting and great take on the prompt. One could do a new one every day and then look back and see how one's moods changed throughout the year. Love!

I love all the colors but I'm drawn more to the muted one. Maybe that's because the room I'm in right now is flooded with sunshine. On a cloudy dreary day I would probably be drawn more to the bright one! Beautifully done, Claire!

I LOVE that you thought to use watercolors to express your colors this week. It does feel otherworldly to me. Great effects, specially the lower section with the gorgeous browns and greens.

Don't know what it is, but I do like it! Looks like there is an eye in there....

LOL it does look like Mars but it also reminds me of a peaceful sunset at the lake at the end of a hot day. Beautiful colors!

What a great watercolor. I have always wished I had any type of artistic leanings. I love how different it looks with the editing.

Claire, this is a beautiful painting - the colors are fabulous! You should pull those paints out more often. :)

I love your painting. I cannot paint myself and I am in awe of those who can. The colors are wonderful.

Your muse was having a great time which of course is the best way to paint. Love it and adore watercolors.
