WOYWW 227 - Who needs a desk...

... when you've found the perfect journal??

Meet my new best friend, and my new wonderful pen :)

As you know, I've been doing Susannah Conway's Journal Your Life course (which finishes this week :( ) And just last week, I found THE perfect writing journal and the perfect pen; and I've returned to my long-lost practice of Morning Pages (lost since the stroke, that is!)

For the first time since the stroke 6 years ago, I am really writing - joined-up, cursive, not laborious printing! I used to write as fast as I thought, so I'm not up to that speed yet, but with the combination of this pen, which just glides across this paper, I have returned to the magical place of being lost as I write each day!

As you can just see, I have different sections, so no more flitting around several notebooks! I have my Morning Pages, my To Do lists, my Gratitude pages (where I record at least 5 things I'm grateful for each day), my ever-growing list of favourite Quotes, a section for random Scribbles, and finally, an Inspiration section, where I gather images and pictures from magazines and catalogues.

I still play in my Creative Dream Journal, which sits on my desk, but this is the perfect place to gather all my daily scribbles and written thoughts!

So there is no desk to see today :)

I must mention here that through my journalling, I've realized I find the huge gathering of desks over at the Stamping Ground increasingly overwhelming...

So I've decided to visit as many desks each week as I feel able, and as always try and respond to all who kindly visit me, but please forgive me if I don't always manage it!

Admitting this sense of overwhelm has been difficult for me, but I know I need to. I so enjoy WOYWW, and don't want to leave the party, so I'm trying to find a strategy that is do-able...

With much love xxx

What a lovely feeling you must have to be able to freely write like this again, good for you, you deserve it all. Write it all down, the more you do the better it will become and if the pen works, stick with it. Your a champion you have traveled far, enjoy the journey.

Happy WOYWW

I for one would welcome you as just a snooper. So glad you're writing again. It sounds like it's something you truly enjoy. I visit as many desks as I'm able to as I'm overwhelmed like you at the number that link up. It takes a ton of time and patience too to snoop and leave comments. So feel free to stop by anytime if you're not participating. Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #14

A really inspiring post. I too feel overwhelmed by all the lovely blogs I need to visit, but you are so right that we can only do what we can do! I always like to try to visit you, Claire because you always inspire me. I love the idea of your journal and I am so happy that you are writing with so much more ease. The gratitude idea is fabulous. When my son was at uni and suffering from depression I suggested he keep a gratitude notebook and wrote at least one thing that had made him feel positive each day. It did help. Have a great day. I'm so glad that you've returned to your love of writing. I can't imagine how awful it is not to be able to do what you love. Thank you for sharing.

There is something very restful about writing, and a big clap for you - given what you have been thru it is a real accomplishment that you stuck with it and now feel you have conquered it! And I think the section notebook is a brilliant idea - only one to keep track of!
Soon your speed will increase, I'm sure, and oh my YES - a good pen is critical to success.

I am determined to be early this week
Happy WOYWW!

Please dont feel like you HAVE to get to everyone. WOYWW is a fun thing we participate in and join in when we can. I love the fact that your journal is making such a difference in your life. Yes CC102 is an online class run by Tim Holtz, I am addicted to his stuff.

It's the first time I join in WOYWW and therefor I want to visit everyone, but it sure is a lot! It's a day worth of reading and commenting. Maybe next time I'll only visit those who comment at my post, and the 10 people before me, and 10 people after me. Or 5 before and after. The order of signing in should change a bit over weeks, so that way you should be able to visit many different blogs over the course of a few months.
I hardly write anymore, but it does have a sence of peace to it. Maybe I should start writing down favourite quotes as well, I think that is an excellent idea!

Hi Claire
how wonderful that you have found both a journal and a pen that is going to work for you and that you are back to enjoying your writing. I understand and appreciate reaching small goals as my life is full of setting little goals for myself to manage.
Happy WOYWW and wishing you a great week

It's lovely to be writing properly again Claire, the perfect tools are obviously helping. I have a thing for fountain pens. Lovely to see your smiling face too on the earlier post.

Claire, thank you for sharing your "desk" It's so wonderful your journals. I too visit only the desks I can, and often times I visit, read, but don't comment. I wish there was a place to just say "like", so people know they were visited. Have a most wonderful day. Hugs from Northern California!

You are so right--who needs a desk? I love your thoughts on journaling, and how you are organized. What a blessing you are to share this journey especially...and an inspiration! I will think differently tonight when I get out my Smash book. And I love your idea of a jar full of dark chocolate right next to me! Thanks for the visit and happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #5

Hi Claire,

Yay!! For finding the perfect pen and for finding the perfect journal! I picked up a copy of The Artist Way and am going to do it a bit differently - instead of morning pages I'll do evening pages. That is when I will have time to truly do it right!

WOYWW is a wonderful group of people and I'm glad that you've figured out that you don't have to visit everyone, every week. I used to beat myself up about that; working full time it really was quite difficult and I'd stress myself out about it. Totally NOT what this all about. Sit back and enjoy.

Thank you for visiting me already!!

Happy WOYWW

Sometimes I only visit a few, sometimes it's more...it depends on so much. It's not supposed to be a chore and everyone understands.
I am so glad that the journal writing is going well - it looks like you have 6 years' worth of writing to get out of your system....
Hope you are well,

Claire,
I am convinced things don't happen by chance. You posted a comment on my blog and then I came to visit your lovely blog. To find a new Morning Pages girlfriend. I started the book about a year ago and absolutely loved waking to write in my journal. I witnessed so many changes in my life and felt so good when I did it. I stopped and started and I am currently in a lull again. But reading your post reminds me how important that daily process is and that I need to return to it. I would love to keep in touch with you since I have never met anyone else that has participated on this wonderful journey. I would also love to know what is the kind of pen you are using? I switch pens way to frequently.

Thank you so much for sharing because tomorrow I will wake to my process again because your lovely post is yet another reminder of what I want to be doing.

Have a blessed day!
