WOYWW No. 166 - A new workdesk :)

Here's my newest acquisition...

... a lapdesk!!

It's on this new desk I'm fulfilling my challenge of drawing every day in August, and it's the perfect surface to draw on while I enjoy watching the Olympics :)

I can proudly say I've drawn every day, except Monday, but I have a valid excuse - I was in serious discomfort following botox treatment on my right arm that morning (I get multiple injections in specific muscles 3 times a year to relax those muscles)...

So here's my drawings from the last 7 days...

These two are from my World of Downton book, which I showed last week...

This is of a favourite photo of a cemetery angel holding fallen leaves in her hands...

I hate chameleons!!
I had a huge one fall on my head in Kenya - believe me, they can grow to the size of a small dog! So I drew this lil' guy to exorcize those yucky memories...

I am pleased with this drawing of a photo taken by Cecil Beaton of an unnamed Wren in 1942..

But I tell you, I really don't like drawing men! They're all angles - and stubble :)

Next Wednesday, I'll show you this coming week's drawings...

And now, I'm off to enjoy others' creations from all over the globe. The ever-growing list is over at Julia's Stamping Ground...

Have a great, creative week :)

All angles and stubble...not just in the drawing!! Ha, great observation! Wonderful drawing, and a great daily discipline, good on you! A lapdesk is the way to go - these Olympics are causing my but to be welded to the chair!!

You are doing well to set yourself a target of drawing everyday. Certainly the more you draw the better you become... it definately is practice makes perfect. I used to do a lot of drawing and especially portraits and animals.
But I tend to have phases where I focus on one type of craft for a few years(am into papercrafting at the moment)
Have a good week

I can't watch tv and do things at the same time, too distracting!! Haven't the Olympics been amazing? TV is going to be very boring when they finish. Love the drawings, especially the one with the angel holding the leaves.

Hello Claire, congratulations on keeping up with the sketching - it's really impressive considering the problems you have with your arms.

I didn't know that about chameleons - I thought they were tiny wee creatures :)

All angles and stubble ... yes, that just about sums men up :))

Happy WOYWW. Hope you have an enjoyable week. Elizabeth x #18

These are marvellous - I'm so in awe of anyone who can actually draw! Hope the lap-table helps with the muscles. It's often how I work with my laptop (which I know you're not really supposed to, but sometimes you just want your feet up and tables get in the way!). Thanks so much for visiting Words and Pictures.

Wonderful drawings. I really envy anyone who can draw realistic representations. It is all in my head, but my hands don't co-operate!
And to do it using just a little lap desk defies belief. Good for you.

I have blog candy on offer so feel free to sign up to be in with a chance to win.

I'm late getting started this week. I blame it on the Linky snafu. I love that lap desk. It's perfect for drawing in your journal and sitting in front of the TV watching the Olympics. I'm number 22.

I'm using a lapdesk right now to go blog hopping! They are a great invention.

Your drawings are wonderful. I really like the first woman - very stylish and bohemian looking.

Today is my one year anniversary. Blog candy will be announced soon. I'm taking a poll so pop on over and put in your 2 cents.

Oh dear, these Olympics have a lot to answer for but haven't they been riveting?
Love your drawings. Each and every one of them is a delight. Those hands are particularly good, if you look at some of the Great Masters they do beautiful faces etc but fall short on the hands.

Wow, Claire, your drawings are just amazing... Sorry to hear you've been in so much discomfort with your arm, and I hope it passes soon. I've never met a chameleon I didn't like - but then I've never met a chameleon lol lol! I think they are fascinating, the way their eyes move independently, and how they can change colour! (I must do a zentangle of one one day.)

Love the new lap desk. I've got one called a Trabasack that I got at a disability show - they are invented by a wheelchair user who was fed up with stuff falling off her lap all the time. I use it all the time! It has a strap to go round my back, and a nice little lip all around to stop stuff falling off, and it has a removable bean bag inside, as well as a secret pocket, and loops to hook things on!! It's particularly useful when I'm eating out, and they have those silly tables with a bar across the bottom which means I can't get my wheelchair close enough to eat from the table.

Thanks for your nice comment. I'm actually having quite a lot of fun downsizing - I'm now working through a whole drawer full of old cassette tapes, sorting out what I want, and copying them onto the computer where they'll take up no room at all, and I will listen to them much more too, because I can put them on my iPod.

Happy WOYWW,

Love the drawings (something I struggle with) and the angels hands is special.
Just read a bit of your profile and can't believe that you suffered a stroke and now draw left-handed. You must be very determined, not to mention talented.

Thanks for visiting me earlier, I'm very much behind with my visits this week - too much excitement in the Olympics.
