How on earth can it be a whole week since the last WOYWW??
But as you can see, a lot can change in a week!
How do you like the new-look blog with the amazing header created by Mary Anne using the xmas gift I showed last week? I am in awe of what she could do - and so quickly!
It just makes me smile every time I see it ;o)
And how can it already be the 9th of January??
But here's the proof - a cute, vintage lil calendar I found on ebay...
... and here's its place on my desk
As you can see, I'm keeping to my New Year intention (I don't do guilt-inducing resolutions) of writing more snail mail...
So if any of you lovely WOYWWers would like a REAL card/note/letter in the post, just drop me an email (claire[dot]sauer[at]ntlworld.com) with your mailing address...
I promise to be a faithful (but not weekly!) pen pal :o)
I've covered the addresses with these thought-filled quotes...
... which I keep in a driftwood box on the window sill to the left of the desk
As I go over to my desk every day to change the date, I pull out a quote for the day... here's today's:
Just remain in the centre, watching,
And then forget that you are there.
Lao Tzu
Well, today I shall be sitting in the centre visiting as many of you wonderfully creative people as possible listed over at Julia's Stamping Ground...
And if you have a mo, drop down to Monday's post and see another new challenge I've set myself - it's going to be fun!!
Enjoy xxx

Just came over from MA's and suffering severe spine envy as I would love to be able to do that to the spine of a book!! Your desk is so neat and clean and the vintage calendar took me back to my childhood as my Grandad had one just like it!!
I came hot-foot from Mary-Anne's to see the banner - very nice, and so was your book you made for her. Your driftwood box is gorgeous, I love it!! I must find and store some quotes for use in my journal. Happy WOYWW, Helen 7

Yes, your blog header is brilliant! Loving he driftwood box too. I got a vintage calendar from Ebay too but altered mine... thank you for your visit, I am late because a lovely friend stopped by yesterday. Belated Happy WOYWW, Anne x #47
Yup, your blog header is Ace and Mary Anne is one very talented lady. And always a blast to spend time with! I love your driftwood box - very tactile, so the idea of keeping such nice quotes in it is great. I don't know if you add new quotes to it regularly, but if you do, here's one you may or may not have already: "The knowledge that time passes makes bad times bearable and good times precious". I don't know who originally said it, but it was written directly onto a friend's corkboard in her dorm room at Uni - and has stuck with me ever since.
Happy New Year - hope it's a good one for you. Thanks for stopping by!
I love the driftwood box! and me too, likes your header, fab! I'm too much of a chicken to change mine! I think You'll get swamped with pen pals!!
Happy New Year Happy WOYWW!

I sit here in awe of your dedication to writing - it's all I can manage to keep up to date with emails/comments! Thanks for dropping by, hugs Jenny #35
Hi Claire, love your drift wood box. Enjoy your writing, hugs Erika.
Love the quotes, the vintage calendar and that gorgeous driftwood box, Claire! Thanks for your visit, and it was lovely to hear from you again. I hope you are doing OK health wise. I've been pretty rough the past year, but a lot of it wasn't helped by uncertainty over my ailing parents. Still managing to be creative, on the desk, floor and recliner lol lol!! Glad you are enjoing what I am doing.
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi
I just knew you'd make a gorgeous header from the the lovely gift. I think it's brilliant, especially as its the work of two artists and so celebrates the way we all come together and support each other. Beautiful.
Cheers,
Rachel
What an excellent resolution! Snail mail is so special and such a nice way to keep in touch. It means so much more than email. I think you are right to avoid guilt driven resolutions. Your driftwood box is lovely.
Hello Claire, your new header banner is fabulous and what a lovely post. Writing to pen-pals is a dying art in this day of almost instant texting and e-mails. I remember having several in different parts of the world when I was a girl - it was encouraged back then - and thoroughly enjoyed receiving letters from France, Malta and the USA :) Love your driftwood box. Thanks for sharing - have a great week. Elizabeth x #69
That's a good idea because with all this online stuff people have become so out of touch. #108
