WOYWW 201 - Back in the saddle...
... and busily working on scrapbook pages :)
Finally, everyone's feeling better, and we were able to have our postponed Easter get-together with my dad. Sadly, my brother couldn't make it :(
I managed to ask Dad about who's who and what's what in some old family photos, and he started filling in this chart I got...
I could only get this in 12x12, as are most scrapbooks, but I plan to fold it to fit my 8x8 albums. I simply can't handle one-handed the larger scrapbooks, but 8x8 seems to be an ideal size :)
We'll fill in the blanks when Dad's got more info from his elder brother...
And I'll leave you with a close-up of these button flowers I'm playing around with - you saw the bottles of paper flowers and a lil' notions box last time. I haven't stuck anything down yet, as I'm still pondering...
Right, that's my desk for this week, so hop on over to Ms Dunnit's Stamping Ground to see ALL the others busy, busy desks - there are more and more being each week!
Have fun xxx
PS The page I was working on, now finished - young love... aaahhhh!

Pretty layout! Digging the flowers and all the bling you have out. Happy WOYWW! Nan #8
What a beautiful page. I'm "doing" the family tree at the moment and wish I'd asked more questions when my parents were alive. Happy WOYWW. Pam#23
Instead of folding it, you could reduce it on a photostat machine...#23
Great generation chart where did you get that from? Super pages too and the button flowers. BJ#20
Happy Wednesday, I hope you are having, or going to have, or have already had a great day (dependent on where exactly in the world you are!)
It's lovely to see vintage family history layouts.

Glad you got together (or most of you!) finally... the family history is so interesting - hope you fit it into your smaller size album - apart from anything, the size isn't so daunting anyway! Helen, 8
So pleased to read that you are all recovered and your postponed get-together went well. Love that LO. Happy Wednesday. :o)

Glad you are feeling better and managed to get together with your family.
I love the layout. It must be the week for scrapping family love as that's what I've been doing too.

Pretty layout. Sorry your brother couldn't make it. You will never be sorry for getting all of that rich history of your family and savoring it forever. SueC#98
Old photos and geneology/info from family... I asked around in my family a few years back and collected a lot of info and stuff... I'm still happy I did that. It's such a source of inspiration and wonderful to know! LOVE the old photo of young love! Happy woyww and hug from Holland, Marit #82
So awesome, that is a lot of work! I hope you share when you finish.
Hello Claire, your layout turned out lovely. Fascinating to see photos that were probably taken at the time I was a child - the men always wore suits and ties back then and her dress is surely c1950s, and she's wearing short socks ... you never see teenagers wearing short socks with dress shoes today! See what scrapping does - brings all sorts of memories flooding back - and that is what makes doing so satisfying :)
I like your family chart. I'd appreciate it if you can tell me the name of the maker? I still haven't sourced one I like for my family history album. I might be able to find a supplier here in the UK.
Happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #41
Your layout is beautiful, and I love your flowers.
Thanks for sharing your workspace! Kathi #109

Many thanks for your reply to my query on the family chart - very helpful. I did look for the starter kit on ebay as suggested but didn't locate it, though did find the £20 collection. I may have put in the wrong search term so will try again later. Thanks again, it was good of you to take the time. Elizabeth x #41
I love your page,
Happy Wednesday

great looking desk this week. Lots of fun projects. Might consider getting it downsized at a printers so you don't have to fold it. I scanned mine in to my computer and printed it out that way. Folding and unfolding can wear paper thin over time and it might rip and tear. Thanks for sharing and have a great week! Vickie #58
great that you have someone to fill in the blanks. i have lots of old photos that my mum cant remember who the people are.
MaryAnn did a family tree template a while back that might fit into a smaller album if you want to do another one

Love that your Dad is able to fill in the chart - I have had to post letters with mine and then some didn't get sent back - arghh!
Love the finished page - wonderful.

Great page and chart. I am trying to visit everyone! jenx 129
Thank you for stopping by for a visit. :) Hugs, SueC#98
Thank you so much for coming around to meet me, Claire, so I could return the flavor. I was stopped short on your profile page, reading about you. My goodness, what an inspiration you are!! It is my absolute pleasure to have found you.
How great that everyone is feeling better and you got to hold the postponed festivities! It's marvelous that your father is helping you fill out all the family history for future generations and that you are beautifully showcasing it!
Have a wonderful week! Darnell #47
That is a charming LO, Claire!

a hand carved stamp
Very nice layout. When your dad finishes adding names, you might want to go to a print shop and have it scanned to 8x8. Then there would be no folds. Your work is wonderful and I'm now a follower!
What a lovely page to end with. Love those button flowers, they work perfectly on that page.
I am full of admiration for your family tree, you have done it so neatly.
Glad everyone is feeling much better.
Thanks for visiting me earlier - Hugs, Neet number 16 xx
I did a family tree paper bag book that I still love, using the Martha Stewart fan chart rather than a "tree" - Google it, it's cool! Love yours, don't get me wrong, but the fan char is fun and you might like it for a future project :)
Happy WOYWW

Helloooo! I have something for you on my blog. Can you email me at cashplant@yahoo.co.uk. Can't email this as I am at work and it's not set up here. Cindy
Fantastic layout there! Nice to see a fellow scrapbooker on WOYWW!
Well done for getting your Dad to fill the tree in, my Dad says he doesn't remember alot of the details, but my Aunt has helped me out!! Isn't ancestry fabulous?
x
Lovely idea to put a family tree like that in your album...brilliant!
xx
what a fabulous chart!
Great that your Dad was able to complete so much of your chart...hopefully his brother will have the remaining info for you!
What a wonderful project!
I know Claire, you said you were disabled, but I was shocked to read it was through a stroke at so young an age. And perhaps also, because we are probably around the same age.
Anyway, I really just wanted to say how much I admire your attitude which comes across so strongly through your blog. you sound positive but realistic, acknowledging the difficulties and incredible challenges yet you seem to have an underlying optimism which shines through.
How's the drawing with the left hand going? Do you still?
I thought the drawings I saw on your other blog showed lots of promise so I hope you carry on, if not know, then in the future.
Take care
B
I like working with 8x8 sometimes too! It's nice the way your preserving your history! I spy lots of yummy bling on that table if I were a scrap pirate you'd have to beware!
