I missed last week - lots going on with my Check the Box course, which finished earlier this week. And without a prompt from Sally, I confess I just didn't have the energy/creativity to come up with my own.
But this week's Texture prompt was nice and easy...
I see this exquisite artwork every time I look up from the sofa
It's by Anca Bonner, an artist and a dear friend, whose work graces my blog header, which was a surprise gift from Anca last Christmas :)
I knew I had to buy it, as soon as I saw it earlier this year. Here's a close-up
(click on the photo to enlarge and experience all the textures!)
Anca has used tea-stained book pages, egg shells, lace leaves, newspaper print, as well as paint and ink. Her pieces are full of texture and prove anything can be used to create beautiful art!
I adore texture in artworks - one reason I rarely buy prints! - as it adds interest and depth and often reveals the artist's inventive imagination...
Looking forward to seeing your textured takes on this week's prompt over in Sally's Studio Sublime.
Till next week xxx

It's so intricate. I can see why you love it
It's beautiful - I love the colour palette and such subtle textures - I can see why it's a favourite!
Really beautiful, what a great piece of art, lovely colour and textures!
Mixed media is so interesting...I've fallen in love with encaustic paintings... but the last one I saw was $750 and I'm not sure were I could put it in this house that it wouldn't be subjected to sun/heat.
Great choice for today's prompt. Many interesting textures indeed, they make one beautiful piece.
Beautiful art!! I didn't see the texture until I scrolled down to the second photo. I love that there are egg shells in this piece!!
Oh that is just lovely! I agree, it's wonderful to have texture in your art
It is beautiful, I love it. Didn't know those were egg shells!
LOVE LOVE LOVE. Thank you for sharing! I never ever would have thought of using egg shells in anything! Love it.
I love all the texture in your friend Anca's woork. And I have always liked your blog header.
That is a beautiful piece of art! I'm loving the egg shells!
Claire, I am on the fan brigade for this piece too. I can see why you hung it in a place where you will see it frequently. The white behind her head reminds me of a halo.
Claire I can see why you like that piece of artwork. It is outstanding.
That is awesome! I see the layers of texture and I really like your header too.
oh what exquisite art indeed! Love the textures too and your header is just as fabulous as the one that hangs in your house!
This is beautiful. What a talented artist she is!
