Focus on Life - Week 43

This week's prompt was a real challenge - In the Shadows.

Mainly because all week in the UK, it has been dull, grey, rainy... No real light source from which to find even one lonely shadow!!

I feared I'd have to resort to an old photo somewhere...

Then, thankfully, Thursday began relatively bright and breezy - phew!!

In one sudden burst of sun, I captured this...

... a patch of sunlight on the wall showing the window pane and a bush in shadow.

Personally, I hate these windows - especially on a modern, tacky, Mock-Tudor house - but we rent the house, so I'm stuck with them. I see them only as obscuring what little light there is at this time of year, but I admit, they do make cool shadows :)

The sun didn't stay long and by the afternoon, we were back to dull and grey and rainy *sigh*

Looking forward to seeing all your shadowy photos...

PS Daughter has returned from Italy - early hours of Friday morning, again! - full of stories, photos and souvenirs! She had a really great, if exhausting, time :)

Both you and I had the same issue with no light this week :) I love your shadows! and I hear what you're saying about the windows: we had some wood 'things' on the windows in our first house. I promptly took them down ~ at least yours have really nice diamond shapes!

Interesting point about those windows... diamonds are the weekest structure... so not sure why they are still using them in modern day windows!~ However your picture is great... the winodw makes lovely shadows!

Love the effect of the shadows on the wall, but agree those windows are kind of creepy, and boy what a ____ to clean!

I love the shadows that light coming through a window makes.

I like those shadows moving across the wall - cool patterns! And enjoy all the stories from your daughter - I bet she had a wonderful time!

We have that weather here in Montana - the sun disappears sometime in November and it reappears around July 4th with just occasional peaks now and again in between. I must agree - I'm not fond of mock Tudor.

I like your shadow, soft and a little poignant, as it lasted such a short time!

Great photo! I love how it makes a cozy setting. See those windows are useful--at least for this challenge.

It was gloomy here most of the week as well, and thought I might have to miss the challenge. But as usual, something always comes to mind.

Love the shadow effect from the window. I know sometimes older designs are awful, but these windows came through for you. I do like the diamond shapes. Thanks for posting.

Love! Looks like a lovely soft wallpaper trellis. :-) I know what you mean though - I like vintage, but only if it's real. We were having a lot of fog this week so I didn't get mine til yesterday!

I had to smile at the thumbnail thinking you can tell it's the UK by the shadows! even if I didn't already know that's where you are. Too bad it's not authentic, the shadow still is at least. Lovely!

Love the shadows and I do love that style of window. Something you don't see much in the area of the US where I live.

It's hard to get shadows with out the light, so I'm glad you captured this photo. Love the shadow this window casts!!
